CDT-100
Description:
Bought new from a dealer in Ottawa, about 18 months old now. The Shanling CDT-100 Tube CD player has several special features. It has a unique appearance and is one of the first tube CD players. It is fitted with an elegant open-top disc drive unit; the entire drive system housing is custom made of heavy-duty aluminum alloy and use a Phillips 1201 bare head mechanism with improved CD7 II servo circuitry.

Four separate metal shields are fitted to the analog, digital filter and tube power modules. The propriety circuitry incorporates a high-quality Microsoft Pacific Microsonics PMD 200 HDCD processor chip, a Crystal CS 8420 sample-rate converter chip, an OAP 2604 high fidelity amplifier and four Burr-Brown PCM 1704 D/A chips.

Choice of solid state or tube output, the analog circuitry is built around the 6N3 tube for both headphone and tube outputs. Comes with stock tubes and two WE396A tubes with lots of life left in 'em. This unit features variable volume output, can be connected directly to an amplifer if you choose to. Upsampling is selected via the remote, HDCD decoding is automatic.

The unique blend of a 24-bit/96kHz signal coupled with tube technology gives the CDT-100 a very natural sonic character. The marriage of industrial art and high technology make the CDT-100 an extraordinarily elegant piece of high-end equipment.
